Description
The fort was originally designed as a military stronghold and later additional rooms were added. One can see many turrets and war stables in and around the fort. The women’s section of the fort or the Zenana was added in the 18th century. Many finely carved windows can be seen in this section of the fort and this is an interesting place to visit. Khimsar is an ideal place for day trips from nearby cities such as Jodhpur. The fort has been converted into a heritage hotel and it is one of the premier hotels in this category. One can also visit Osian which is a small village located around 27 km away. There are many Jain carvings and sculptures here.
